Council Highlights - 2014



  • Served 6200+ total youth ages 6-19 and their families, 1700 registered Adult volunteers.
  • Traditional and Scoutreach programs include Cub Scouts–males age 6-10, Boy Scouts-males 11-18 and Venture Scouts–co-ed teens age 14-20.  Exploring programs include Middle School Exploring Club Members- co-ed students in 6th-8th grade, and High School Explorer Post members – co-ed students in 9th-12th grade.
  • 79 Boy Scouts earned the highest rank of Eagle in 2014.
  • 1319 Cub Scouts and 676 Boy Scouts earned rank advancements



  • Two full service campgrounds serve nearly 100% of our Boy Scouts and Cub Scout families, plus additional outside youth groups during the year, such as sports teams, church youth groups, Youth Challenge, college fraternities, etc. 
  • 380 youth members and 120 adults attended Summer Camp at Black Creek Scout Reservation or Camp Tolochee
  • Camping Facilities at Black Creek Scout Reservation and Camp Tolochee served an additional 2,500 youth and adults in a variety of activities and events.
  • 582 Leaders were trained on-line and 1000 Leaders were trained in the classroom.



  • Recruited and organized functional Council Committees
  • Council Strategic Plan written and implemented
  • Council merger with Okefenokee Area Council completed March 2014, with 22 counties now served by the newly formed Coastal Georgia Council.
  • Friends of Scouting campaign raised $550,000 in 2014
  • Council balanced budget every year for the past 7 years.



  • Council received Journey to Excellence Bronze Award in 2014.
  • Both camps received National Boy Scout Gold Standard Accreditation in 2014.
